The Rwandan school year closes in July, with the new year’s first term scheduled to start in September. For the 110 secondary school students in Rwanda who are sponsored with a Children in the Wilderness scholarship covering their school fees, uniforms and lesson materials for the duration of their six years of schooling, this means it is time for their yearly exams.

The 110 students attend three CITW partner schools. There are 92 students at Bisate Secondary School situated close to Wilderness Bisate Lodge, 8 students at Kinihira Secondary School close to Gishwati Forest and 10 students at Rwabihramba Secondary School close to the North Gate of Akagera National Park, where Wilderness Magashi is situated.
Of course, we hope to be able to award more scholarships to children at all three schools at the start of the new school year. During the school holiday, we will combine the balance of donations received from our guests and make a selection. Stay tuned!
Before preparing for the school exams, the scholarship students wrote letters to their sponsors expressing their gratitude. Enjoy reading this selection!
