Children in the Wilderness

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME

Our Scholarship Programme is an integral part of what we do. Providing a child with the opportunity to complete their education is life-changing and a wonderful gift! The Scholarship Programme provides funding for the necessary school fees and if possible, we try and assist with uniform, stationery and other school expenses as well. Funding from our programme comes largely from Wilderness Safaris guests and agents, as well as other partner NGOs.

In many of the areas where we operate primary education is free or has a minimal charge, while secondary schooling usually has a larger fee attached to it. For this reason, a large majority of children will only ever complete their primary schooling, while some may not even have the opportunity to attend primary school.

Students Requiring Sponsorship

Providing a child with the opportunity to complete their education is life-changing and a wonderful gift and we have children across all of our regions who need funding for their education.  This ranges from school fees, uniforms, through to boarding accommodation to be near their schools.

For more information on our scholarship programme, please contact Children in the Wilderness (info@childreninthewilderness.com).

Primary School Scholarships:

US$175 per child per annum

Through our Eco-Clubs, CITW camps and YES programmes, we are able to identify children who are doing well academically but whose parents are unable to keep them in school. Our Scholarship Programme aims to provide these children with an opportunity to complete their schooling and to give them hope and inspiration for their future.

Secondary School Scholarships:

Non-boarding – US$250 per child per annum (commitment for 5 years to enable child to complete schooling)

Boarding – US$500 per child per annum (commitment for 5 years to enable child to complete schooling)

Tertiary Education Scholarships:

This is a relatively new area for the CITW programme.  Our tertiary education scholarships focus specifically on students studying in areas of conservation and/or environment.   This is in keeping with our objective to inspire the children and students to care for the environment so that they can become the custodians of these areas in the future. Tertiary education scholarship amounts vary according to the field of study, the level of tertiary study, the education institution and the country the student is studying in. In keeping with our programme structure, CITW gives consideration to students who have been part of the CITW programme when awarding scholarships at tertiary level.

Annual fees range from US$2500 upwards per student depending on the aforementioned.
