World Environment Day is celebrated on the 5th of June annually. It’s our opportunity to create awareness for protecting the environment from issues such as climate change and pollution, and to teach future generations to conserve the world around them.

Our first urban Eco-Club is based in Windhoek, Namibia, at Michelle McLean Primary School. The club initiated a clean-up for World Environment Day, where the children, teachers and parents worked together to clean the school grounds.

Each grade was given a section to clean and the children were excited and full of energy to get stuck in to the project!

This was a wonderful chance for the school to see how involved the children were. They participated in activities that taught them to preserve their environment and to appreciate the importance of restoring their surroundings and keeping the area clean.
The children also learnt about recycling the waste they collected, and rewards were given to the children who worked the most.
What a joyful day it was indeed!
