Tree planting season is here in Malawi!

Every year, towards the end of November, Chihame Eco-Club at Chintheche celebrates the beginning of tree-planting season, especially as some tree species need planting early, at the beginning of the rainy season.

The club is planning to plant over 1 000 seedlings between December 2020 and March next year.

The Nanthomba Tree Nursery is managed by the four Eco-Clubs of Nanthomba, Kavunguti, Kafulafula and Mulambe primary schools. Despite the shortage of water for the seedlings (the water pump at Nanthomba has not worked since May this year), the children worked really hard to make sure a good number of seedlings survived the dry season and the shortage of water.

More than 15 000 seedlings were in good shape by November end, and are ready for the planting season.
