With the support of generous Wilderness guests Robert and Alison Green, Wilderness Rwanda and Children in the Wilderness (CITW) have been able to assist Bisate Primary School with the installation of schoolyard playground equipment.

We partnered with the school in 2018, soon after Wilderness opened nearby Bisate Lodge, and have since developed an excellent relationship with both the primary and secondary schools.
With this latest donation from the Greens, in May 2026 we provided the school with playground equipment that the 212 nursery-school children and 1,499 primary children at the school are already using.

Interaction with the equipment encourages physical development, enhances cognitive and emotional skills and promotes communication for both the children and adults. The beneficial impact of the roundabout, swings and slide is the advancement of social skills, co-operation, and teamwork, as the children play and have fun together. Furthermore, the equipment is beneficial for reducing stress and increasing relaxation, as well as creating a sense of well-being.
The total value of the donation from our guests is USD 1,249.74.

‘Thank you so much Robert and Alison Green! We really appreciate your ongoing support, which has ensured that this project was implemented,’ said Aline Umutoni, Children in the Wilderness & Community Manager for Wilderness Rwanda, adding that ‘the playground equipment has generated great happiness, and immediately evoked a sense of fun, offering a mental break from daily stressors, all confirming how a playground provides so much more than just an enjoyable pastime.’
