First Earth-to-Plate Produce Supplied to Wilderness Hwange Camps

Children in the Wilderness (CITW) Zambezi is exceptionally excited to announce that the first delivery of CITW’s and Wilderness’ Earth-to-Plate food initiative took place at the beginning of this week.

This initiative aims to procure seasonal vegetables – grown in and harvested straight from – our CITW partner schools’ gardens for staff meals in several Wilderness camps in Zimbabwe. Our Ziga Agricultural Course ladies supplied their first order to four Hwange camps: 40 kg of white onions, 7 kg of red onions and 300 g of parsley were purchased.

The Ziga Agricultural Course ladies genuinely put their all into learning as much as possible during the training course, and their hard work is showing through the abundance of vegetables that they now have available for sale.

CITW and Wilderness are more than happy to support these ladies and provide a source of income for them and their young families. Going forward, Wilderness has placed a weekly order with the ladies.

We hope to expand this venture to include produce from the Ngamo Primary School eco-garden, among other schools, in the future.  Here is to the start of what promises to be a truly successful Earth-to-Plate food-growing initiative!
