A US family who stayed at Wilderness Safaris Magashi over Christmas 2020 decided that instead of having presents for themselves under the Magashi Christmas tree, they would like to donate backpacks full of school supplies to Akayange Primary School. Could Children in the Wilderness help them to organise this? Yes of course, with pleasure!
The school supplies were bought in Kigali and transported to Magashi, where the guests found them as their Christmas presents. Thereafter, all that remained was to distribute the gifts to the children at Akayange Primary School.
However, this took us a little longer than expected. Due to movement and lockdown restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we were not able or allowed to visit the school in January.
Fortunately last week we managed to organise the visit, and as you can see from the pictures, the children and the teachers were delighted!
In total 350 children received notebooks, pencils, rulers and other school necessities. The teachers received even more supplies, like soccer balls and paint, to use and share amongst their learners.
A belated Christmas gift to the school that is so appreciated!
