Children in the Wilderness (CITW), in association with Diacore Gaborone Marathon, launched an exciting Sports in the Wilderness programme in 15 of its affiliated Eco-Club schools in Botswana. In February 2019, each of the eight schools in our northern Botswana region, hosted an environmentally-themed track and field Sports Day to inspire and motivate children to care for themselves, and their environment.
During these event, we saw amazing talent displayed by the children from the different schools. On the 4th – 6th April 2019 a Regional Sports Competition was held at the Maun Sports Complex. The eight schools which Children in the Wilderness works with, were represented by the children who took first place during the Sports in the Wilderness Sports days.
At the Regional Sports Competition, a team was selected to represent their Region at the National Sports Competition at the Francistown Sports Complex from the 19th to the 22nd of April.
Well done to all the children who competed, and all of our Eco-Club members who attended both the regional and national competitions.

Children in the Wilderness Botswana would like to thank Diacore Gaborone Marathon for making the Sports in the Wilderness days such a success. With the support of CITW, Diacore Gaborone Marathon, and our teachers and parents, our children were able to shine on the athletics field.
