From transformative guest donations and inspiring school visits to celebrating World Ranger, World Lion and World Elephant days, our Eco-Club activities continued throughout August, despite it being the end of the school year. In between, our young members have rested and are recharged in time for the new academic year at the beginning of September.

World Ranger Day at the Tafa Community Centre

Eco-Club members at Tafa did not hesitate to celebrate the efforts of field rangers in conservation.
“We shared with the children the experiences of a ranger, the requirements and the training process and the challenges the rangers experience while carrying out their daily duties. This also covered the important roles rangers play in conservation and the kind of support rangers need from everyone to successfully carry out their ecosystem protection duties”. – Mildred Odour, KWS Education Officer – Naivasha
World Lion Day – 10 August 2025 | World Elephant Day – 12 August 2025
To raise awareness and support for the conservation of lions and elephants, Eco-Club members expressed their creativity.

The theme for World Elephant Day was matriarchs and memories.

Other Eco Club Activities
Eden Thriving is a Naivasha-based NPO whose mission is to restore the vital link between land and lives. In partnership with the organisation, Suguta Mugie Eco-Club members attended a conservation camp which included lessons on endangered species, understanding human-wildlife conflict, beekeeping and snake education.

Outside of the lessons, activities included games, games drives, and bonfire and reflection evenings.

Tafa Eco-Club Tree-planting Project

“Last term we started a nursery project and we have already successfully grown kale (sukuma wiki), pine tree seedlings, onions and tomatoes. We are now ready to begin transplanting the crops to the main fields”.
