Bongani Baloyi, our Children in the Wilderness Regional Programme Coordinator, visited the community of Maramani in Zimbabwe in October. Bongani visited the schools we work with in the Region – Nottingham Primary School, both Shashi Primary and Secondary Schools, Limpopo Primary School and Jalukange Primary School.
Bongani, together with Gamuchirai Ndlovu (CITW Eco-Club Coordinator for Maramani), chatted to each school about the exciting projects they’ll be taking on over the next little while. Sewing and chicken/broiler farming projects will begin early next year. These projects have been put together by the schools themselves, and are set out to benefit both the community and schools themselves. CITW has provided funding for the schools to get the projects up and running, and to provide the necessary materials and training to ensure the longevity of the projects. Bongani also spoke to the schools about our Youth Environmental Stewardship (YES) Programme, and the possibility of launching YES in the secondary schools in the Maramani communities.
Well done Bongs! And to the communities in Maramani – keep flying the CITW flag high!
