YES Clubs in Malawi

In Malawi, reports Symon Chibaka, CITW’s Eco-Clubs introduce junior school children to specifically focused environmental education and life skills programmes.

When these Eco-Club members graduate to Secondary School, they join the YES Programme where they practice their knowledge acquired on practical activities and projects such as…
• Reforestation
• General civic education/awareness campaigns
• Helping to run the Eco-Clubs
• Initiating and running social projects for the elderly and other vulnerable community members

Other important opportunities for education are Open Day events, a powerful tool for the youth to use to talk to their peers.
