Waste management is an important part of CITW Eco-Club activities. With the concept of basic science sponsored by Design Squad Global, the waste management projects by Eco-Clubs have found yet another ‘mouth’ to swallow some of the litter they collect from their school grounds. Eco-Club members are now learning to design and make prototype shoes from the waste materials which they collect from their school grounds.
Although most of the products they create are only prototypes, the most important lesson they learn is being able to look at waste and think of turning it into something they can use, and celebrate their innovation and creativity. There is such a great sense of accomplishment after each child has designed and created what they had only imagined at the start of the session with their teachers.
