Children in the Wilderness (CITW) Botswana would like to thank Ms Vee Romero, a Wilderness Safaris guest, for the donation of school uniforms to 24 Eco-Club children. This donation was made in loving memory of the late Geoffrey Aupiti, a CITW Eco-Mentor who sadly passed away a few years ago.
Vee Romero visited Okavango Wilderness Safaris camps a few years ago, where she met the late Aupiti, who shared his experience and passion for the Children in the Wilderness programme with her. Vee recently visited Wilderness Safaris camps, where she requested to see Geoffrey, only to be informed that he had sadly passed away. The news prompted Vee to donate school uniforms to 24 children from the eight schools (three children from each school) with which CITW works in Botswana, all in loving memory of Aupiti.
The School Management Team and Parent Teachers Association (PTA) thought carefully about who the beneficiaries of this wonderful donation should be. Children who were in need were selected, and the CITW team travelled to each school to hand over the school uniform donation. These handovers were attended by, the Chiefs, PTA members and parents of the beneficiaries, at each school.
We believe that these uniforms will motivate children to follow their dreams as it enables them to go to school with confidence and helps to build their self-respect.
