Up until Botswana’s 28-day lockdown from 2 April 2020, Shashe Primary School’s Eco-Club members were very hands-on in their vegetable garden!
The Eco Club members were happy to be in the garden and getting their hands dirty. They have already completed a clean-up campaign of the grounds, and started preparing the garden plots and beds, and planting crops and trees.
The club members have planted mopane trees, and in the garden plots, planted maize, pumpkins and watermelons. Next season they will grow a variety of vegetables. Another activity planned by the club includes a worm farm.
We look forward to seeing the plants grow, knowing the nutritious produce from the garden plots will go a long way to aiding food security for the community!
With thanks to Olly, our EE Assistant Coordinator at Shashe Primary School’s Eco-Club, working together with EE Coordinators, Kelly and Gaba from our CITW Botswana team, to guide and assist the Eco-Club members.
