CITW South Africa has received a number of wonderful donations, and some of our Johannesburg staff headed out to hand these over to our various communities.

First stop was the Simson community near Alldays in Limpopo. Here we handed over donated hand sanitisers to two of our CITW-supported schools in the area, as well as facemasks for the local clinic.
Our heartfelt thanks go to Skoert Products and Elizabeth Lategan for this generous and life-changing support.
Two bicycles were also donated to Modikwa Primary School in Simpson. The Eco-Club mentor will run an environmental competition offering the bicycles as prizes to two schoolchildren.

We then headed north to Mapungubwe National Park to hand over tents, sleeping bags and camping pillows to the Trans-Frontier Conservation Area (TFCA) Rangers’ anti-poaching unit. These rangers often sleep out in the open, exposed to the local wildlife, including elephants, lions, scorpions, etc.

We also handed over school bags to the rangers’ children. These children are often ostracised for being a ranger’s child due to the incidence of poaching in the area.
The following day took in a visit to the Makuleke community bordering Kruger National Park, where the CITW programme is run in five schools. Here we handed over the remaining donated hand sanitisers and facemasks. We were welcomed by our South Africa Programme Co-ordinator, Bongani Baloyi, who hails from Makuleke, and has been living here during the lockdown; we also met Chief Makuleke who thanked us for our donation.
It was very successful trip, building and strengthening valued relationships for the Nedbank Tour de Tuli and Children in the Wilderness.
