Maramani Crochet Club

Nottingham Estate is a privately owned citrus farm in Zimbabwe, set on the banks of the Limpopo River close to Beitbridge, with a rich family history going back to 1953.

The estate is one of the Nedbank Tour de Tuli’s most popular waypoints, and owners Byron and Ingrid Knotts are very involved with the Tour; they also have a close relationship with their neighbouring Maramani community members.

Ingrid recently started a Crochet Club for the ladies of the community – they meet every Thursday to learn to crochet. The ladies have been devotedly creating crochet squares, which they are now sewing into a blanket!

Sue Goatley and Lisa Witherden met the ladies during their Eco-Mentor workshop at the beginning of October, after which Ingrid sent these wonderful snaps. CITW has provided funding for the wool and crocheting equipment.
