On the 3rd of March 2023, Gudigwa Primary School embarked on a litter cleaning campaign to which they invited Children in the Wilderness representatives, a social worker from the village, and the Chief of the Village, Kgosi Divere Ndando. The purpose of the activity was to raise awareness for both learners and the general public about the importance of a clean environment.
The guests had the opportunity to talk about clean vs dirty environments, as they relate to their own lines of work. The litter cleaning was done in the school and in the village by the students, with the help of the community and the teachers.
This campaign is the manifestation of the truism: “If you take care of the environment, it will take care of you”. The campaign was a great success, and we believe it will become the norm for their school.
After this event, CITW Botswana handed over stationery that had been donated by guests through Pack for Purpose, and clothing donated by guests visiting Wilderness Botswana camps.
The school management expressed their appreciation for CITW Botswana’s support and concern for the well-being of the students and their academics.
