Days for Girls Hygiene Kits Purchase, Victoria Falls

One hundred and forty hygiene kits have been purchased from the Days for Girls Enterprise in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. Thanks to generous funding from the Stanwood Camano Island Chapter in the USA, and Brooke Shaw from Australia, this has been made possible. The funds used to purchase these packs will go back into the project; allowing more materials to be purchased, and paying the sewers for their work, providing those involved with a consistent income during these turbulent times.

The Days for Girls hygiene kits are high quality, comprehensive packs that provide girls with washable, reusable sanitary pads. Menstruation is a significant challenge for girls in this region, as the cost of sanitary items is unaffordable for most. This has been made worse by the coronavirus, as livelihoods have been lost and poverty has increased; many people are struggling to feed their families, let alone spending money on hygiene products. Thus, this donation comes at such an important time and will make a significant difference in the lives of those who need it most – particularly younger girls who have just started menstruating.

Examination classes are also about to go back to school for the first time since March. Ensuring that girls have an opportunity to finish their primary or secondary schooling is so important, and because many girls end up skipping school due to menstruation, this will give them a vital opportunity to attend school and be present for the classes that they have left in the 2020 academic year.

We are so grateful for all the support we receive, and are so glad that the Victoria Falls Days for Girls Enterprise can be supported. We thank the Stanwood Camano Island Chapter for their ongoing support, and we look forward to providing an update on the distribution, when 140 girls will benefit from this amazing donation.

SUPPORT OUR COMMUNITY HEROES

~ Wilderness Safaris COVID Relief ~

The impact of COVID-19 in Africa has been profound – particularly on wildlife conservation and rural communities dependent on tourism. Please join us to support our Conservation Heroes. Together we are stronger, and together, we can continue to change lives. It only costs USD50 to feed a family for a month. Or USD5 000 to cover the monthly operations of an anti-poaching team. Every single contribution, no matter how big or small, makes a significant difference.
