Our Children in the Wilderness Namibia Eco-Club at Elias Amxab Combined School at Sesfontein, deep in the Kunene Region, celebrated World Environment Day on the 5th of June. This year’s theme – ‘Inspired by Nature, Climate, and Our Future’ – motivated the learners to participate in cleaning and caring for their school and the surrounding community.
World Environment Day is particularly significant in Namibia, as the country is known for its unique wildlife, beautiful landscapes, and valuable natural resources, and our Eco-Club members are proud to contribute to this important cause, and help protect the environment for future generations.
The challenges Namibia faces include drought, climate change, and pollution. These issues affect people’s health, livelihoods, and biodiversity. The learners played their part this year by collecting waste and recycling, as well as through ongoing initiatives to conserve water, and keep the community clean.
The Eco-Club learners at Elias Amxab Combined School remind us that everyone has a role to play in protecting the environment. By working together, we can create a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment for the present and for the future.
