Children in the Wilderness Malawi (CITW) National Programme Co-ordinator Symon Chibaka recently touched base with two CITW Youth Environmental Stewardship Programme (YES) members who are studying overseas.
Where Are They Now?
Davie Nkosi is a graduate of the CITW Malawi programme, and an active YES Club member.
After his Bachelor’s studies in Environmental Sciences at Bunda University in Malawi, Davie worked for two years as an Assistant Forestry Officer in the Ministry of Forestry. He is now studying for his Master’s degree at the International Center for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM) in Bari, Italy.
Another rewarding reconnect in January was through an online chat with Simon Zungeni [pic], who is studying for his Master’s degree in Computer Science at Michigan University in the USA. Simon has been with CITW since 2010.
After completing his Bachelor’s studies at Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST), Simon worked as a teacher for two years before earning a scholarship for his Master’s degree studies in the US.
Further to CITW’s philosophy of facilitating sustainable conservation through leadership development, it is nothing short of amazing to follow the progress of these youths. As young leaders, and champions of conservation, they are honing their practical skills and we look forward to helping them make a tangible difference to Malawi’s environmental wellbeing.
