CITW Botswana & Pack for a Purpose – 2022 Update

One of the most wonderful and impactful consequences of Okavango Wilderness Safaris camps hosting visitors is the receipt of much-needed and appreciated children’s supplies, donated through the Pack for a Purpose initiative.

Since last year, Children in the Wilderness (CITW) Botswana has been delighted to accept stationery and toiletries from guests at Wilderness’ Botswana camps, as well as through the Travel Shop in Maun, for distribution to our partner schools across the country.

Parakarungu Primary School (in Chobe) is the most recent beneficiary of donated goods, which we were thrilled to hand over during our follow up visit on the 18th of February. The donated items comprised pencils, erasers, scissors, rulers, glue sticks, coloured pencils, crayons, purses, Prestik, calculators, world map globes, toothbrushes and underwear.

School management appreciated the donation and stated that it will sustain them while the council works around the clock to provide materials for the school.

At CITW we take pride in making sure that the schools we work have every opportunity to achieve excellence, not only on issues that concern the environment, but also academically and with the welfare of the children in mind.

From all of us at CITW Botswana, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to Wilderness’ guests for remembering our children and “Packing for a Purpose”, as well as OWS Camp Management and Maun Travel Shop employees for your tremendous diligence in accepting the gifts and ensuring their prompt delivery to our office!
