Bicycle handover of Mike’s Bikes to our winners in Tubu and Habu Primary Schools, Botswana

You’ll remember our report about the generous donation of 30 bicycles and cycling equipment to CITW Botswana from the Mike’s Bike Shop last month. Well, we are happy to announce that the beneficiaries have started receiving their gifts this week when Lesh Moiteela (CITW Botswana Programme Manager, Cultural Ambassador and Community Relationship Manager) and Sam Kavindama (Community Liaison) delivered bicycles to Habu and Tubu Primary Schools yesterday. This comes three weeks after an adjudication that was held three weeks ago, on the bicycles the children had made out of recycled materials. You can read that report here.

We visited each school, where we ran a ten minute session with Eco-Club Members, Teachers and Parents of the winners. Here, we discussed where the bicycles had come from, and talked about the wonderful creations the children had made, in order to be the beneficiaries of this awesome prize. We also had a short quiz on the 3Rs to reiterate the importance of the three Rs and how they should be interwoven into our everyday lives. The Children were excited and participated really well in the quiz.
