Rangers are the backbone of conservation in Namibia, as they are on the frontline of protecting and safeguarding our wildlife, and national parks and landscapes.
31 July 2023 is dedicated to rangers worldwide. Namibian rangers contribute to the country’s conservation successes, which include among others, the remarkable recovery of wildlife numbers across the country, in communal areas, on freehold land, and in state-protected areas.

We thank all the rangers for their commitment and bravery in guarding our natural heritage. Similarly, each year we commemorate and honour the memory of those who, unfortunately, due to the threats they face, are no longer with us.

To commemorate this day, Elias Amxab Combined School Eco-Club learners in the Sesfontein Conservancy created posters sharing their personal stories and experiences, and the joy they have from being surrounded by nature’s protectors.
