Limited Space Still Available on the 2019 Nedbank Tour de Tuli

The Children in the Wilderness (CITW) fundraising team has confirmed that in the run-up to entries closing on June 30th, 2019, a limited number of places remain available for this year’s Nedbank Tour de Tuli.

The 2019 Tour dates are confirmed for July 23rd – 28th, 2019, with the route once again taking in pristine, remote areas of South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana. This year, for the first time, the route has been reversed, giving riders more time in Botswana.

“We’re putting in place the final preparations for this year’s event, and we were excited to launch the route at a special evening event held on Wednesday, May 29th. Running the route in reverse helps mix things up for repeat participants, while maximising the riders’ time in the remote Tuli area of Botswana,” said Nicola Harris, Tour Director. “This is the area that gave the event its name, and it’s the spiritual home of what has become a sought-after fixture on the southern African mountain biking calendar”, added Harris.

The Nedbank Tour de Tuli differs from other multi-stage mountain bike events in that it is not a race. Rather, it focuses on the sense of camaraderie and the opportunity to ride along unmarked trails in pristine areas of outstanding natural beauty. Participants also enjoy seeing wildlife, meeting members of local communities, while knowing they are raising funds for environmental education initiatives through Children in the Wilderness (CITW).

CITW is Wilderness Safaris’ non-profit partner that runs sustainable education programmes to bridge the divide between communities and the wildlife areas they live in or alongside. Since its inception in 2005, the Tour de Tuli has raised over R20 million to directly support CITW’s work.

In addition to delivering unique experiences, the Tour also offers a famously elevated level of service to participants, including ‘glamping’ at pre-constructed campsites, with a full bar and barista service, sports massages and mountain bike maintenance.

Thanks to the generosity of the Tour sponsors, prizes are available – but these are for the riders who raise the most funds for CITW, rather than those who finish first.
