Hearing tests with communities in Rocktail Bay, South Africa

Earlier this week, Rocktail General Manager Natalie Gouws has been spending time in the local community around camp, visiting two villages, KwaMqobela and KwaMpukane.

She picks up the story: “We had a team of seven people come to Rocktail to do hearing tests and to see who might need hearing aids. In total we saw about 110 people and 14 people had their ears ‘moulded’ for hearing aids. These hearing aids will take about three weeks or so to be produced. Once they are completed the team will fly back to give these 14 people the gift of hearing. Once again a big thank you goes to Mercy Air which assisted with the co-ordination of this amazing project.

What’s even more amazing is that while they were there, the doctors also took time to do blood pressure tests, check people’s hearts and they also checked thyroids. I’m looking forward to my next project for my local community.”
