We are thrilled to share some heartwarming news about our recent contributions to the Ngamo and Kapane clinics in Zimbabwe. At Children in the Wilderness (CITW), we understand that thriving communities are built on the connections between students, teachers, schools, parents, and the broader community. Each stakeholder plays an essential role in our programmes and projects, creating a tapestry of support that drives our initiatives forward.
As a result of this, in order to ensure our core programmes are running effectively within the schools, health remains one of the main pillars of our mission. By ensuring access to essential healthcare for students, parents, and the wider community, we believe we can more effectively achieve our long-term vision and goals.
Unfortunately, Zimbabwe’s healthcare system often leaves rural clinics without the basic yet essential medication and equipment that community members desperately need. For example, expectant mothers sometimes have to travel long distances, often on foot, to access safe delivery facilities, due to the lack of birthing beds in local clinics.
In response to these challenges, CITW has stepped up to support local healthcare facilities. We’re excited to announce the recent donations we made to Ngamo and Kapane clinics, made possible thanks to a generous donor. Ngamo Clinic received a delivery bed – to ensure that expecting mothers can safely give birth within the community clinic – two patient beds to provide comfort and care for patients receiving treatment, and four months’ worth of assorted essential medications. This supply of medication will be made two more times throughout the year.
Similarly, Kapane Clinic was provided with two patient beds to enhance the clinic’s capacity to care for its patients, and four months’ worth of assorted essential medications, with additional deliveries planned twice more throughout the year.
These contributions are not just about providing material items; they are about creating an enabling environment where every community member has access to the healthcare they need. By doing so, we ensure that our students, their families, and the broader community can thrive, promoting a more vibrant and healthier environment for all.
We are immensely proud of the positive impact these donations will have on Ngamo and Kapane clinics, and look forward to continuing our support.
