Victoria Falls Books for Africa Distribution

This week, another 200 boxes of books were delivered to 17 schools around Victoria Falls. As schools have just opened, after being closed since June, the delivery was a welcome surprise for them all, and we were met with elation and gratitude from the school heads.

One lovely thank you message read: “Thank you for your most kind and generous gesture which you extended to Peace Primary School through the donation of reading materials. Your contribution to our institution was timely and strategic as we recently opened our school library for this term. It is in this regard that we value your input which makes the process of imparting knowledge and skills a collective effort. Thank you so much for your continued kindness”.

Thanks to Books for Africa, we have received two consignments of books in the last year – the first approximately 15 tonnes worth, and the second about 20 tonnes worth. This equates to over 1 200 boxes and more than 30 000 books. These include a range of categories and age levels from leisure books to subject books such as English, Maths, Science, and Social Studies. Many schools in Zimbabwe, particularly those in small towns and rural areas, do not have adequate learning resources for students.  Thus, these books make such a difference in the lives of thousands of school children, and will continue to do so for many years ahead.

We look forward to continuing with our distributions and making an impact in a wide range of areas, thanks to Books for Africa and their incredible generosity.
