During their stay at Vumbura Plains, the Shellock family donated school uniforms to one hundred beneficiaries at Gunotsoga Primary School through Children in the Wilderness Botswana (CITW). The handover of the uniform was done by Mr. Emang Letlhare (a Wilderness Safari Guide) representing the amazing Shellock family on the 11th July 2019. The beneficiaries were selected by the school management through the guidance of the Parent Teacher Association and the social worker.
The event was graced by the presence of the village Chief Mr. Gakegane Sauqho, Parent Teacher Association members (PTA) and members of the community. The event was opened by students singing the national anthem and welcome remarks were done by Ms. July (School Head).
Mr. Letlhare gave a speech to the children at Gunotsoga Primary School on behalf of the Shellock family. In their message, they encouraged the children to take care of their natural resources and make sure they protect the vast number of elephants that are found in their area. This was the second time the Shellock family donated school uniform to Gunotsoga Primary School children. They first donated full school uniform to 114 students in 2015.
The parents also appreciated these gifts, and they were humbled by the love they received from the Shellock Family. They stated that the love and support from this family has broken all barriers created by distance, and they acknowledge them as part of their community. They sent their love and blessings to the Shellock family, Okavango Wilderness Safaris and Children in the Wilderness Botswana.
The children also promised to study hard. They were impressed that someone who is miles away from them cares about their wellbeing. This has motivated the children to take their studies seriously and to hold on to the message that Shellock Family sent to them through their professional Guide/Ambassador Mr. Emang Letlhare.
The Children in the Wilderness Botswana team would like to direct special gratitude to Shellock Family, Mr. Emang Letlhare, Okavango Wilderness Safaris, Gunotsoga Primary School Management, the PTA and Community elders for the amazing work and support they have offered to make sure that our children received this wonderful donation.
