Nedbank Tour de Tuli Cyclist Donates Bicycle to a CITW Eco-Mentor

Anke Schmalzbauer from Germany rode the Nedbank Tour de Tuli 2019 for the first time this year. She made the most wonderful and generous decision – to donate her bicycle to someone in a Children in the Wilderness (CITW) community.

The CITW Team decided the best recipient of this bike should be Miss Portia Phokela from the Modikwa Primary School in Simson Village in Limpopo Province, South Africa. Portia is our Simson CITW Eco-Club Coordinator in the area and has been helping us to run our programme there since 2015.

Here’s what Portia had to say about her new wheels 🙂

Dear Anke

This letter serves to confirm that I had received a bike and bike spares last week on the 5th of August. I, Portia Phokela, would like to say thank you a million times for the bike, I really really appreciate it. It is going to be easy for me to go to school to do my Eco-Clubs sessions with a bike and I do enjoy riding the bike. I even named it ‘The White Horse’.

Thanks

Portia
