Wilderness Damaraland Camp was delighted to host Miss Namibia 2023, Jameela |Uiras and facilitate her reintroduction to her to her cultural roots in this breath-taking landscape.
Damaraland Camp is extremely proud of its three-decade partnership with the Torra Conservancy, and the positive impact the joint venture has had on the communities here.
During her visit, Jameela explored nearby De Riet village to find out more about several projects that embody the spirit of the three pillars – Empower, Educate and Protect – of Wilderness’ Impact strategy.
From a women’s sewing initiative making Wonderbags to a poultry project, and a now peaceful co-existence with the herds of desert-adapted elephants that move through the area, as well as numerous improvements at De Riet Kindergarten, Jameela was profoundly inspired by her experiences on this transformative journey.
