The family survives by peasant farming which is not profitable in that part of Zambia because of droughts that affect the region. As a result, Hilary’s family suffers from food shortages. Furthermore they are unable to pay for Hilary’s school fees. Hilary still has 4 years to complete secondary education to be eligible for tertiary education.
