Tanya McKenzie, our Children in the Wilderness (CITW) Programme Coordinator for the Bobirwa Region in Botwana, wrote this wonderful update on two very special young men. Thabiso Tsheole and Mogomotsi Ramofi both attended CITW camps as youngsters, and returned this year as Eco-Mentors. Read Tanya’s report below.
Thabiso Tsheole attended a CITW Camp in December 2012 with me as a camper, and Mogomotsi Ramofi in December 2011 and December 2012. The December 2011 camp was held at Tuli Safari Lodge and both the December 2012 Camps were at Mashatu Tent Camp. Both young men contacted me recently and we chatted about what they are doing. Mogomotsi was at Matshekge Hill Senior Secondary School in Bobonong and was completing his BGSCE Examination for Form 5. Thabiso had completed his Form 5 and is studying Physical Education. He is interested in Environmental Conservation and plays volleyball. He was head prefect at school and captain of his volleyball team. He is also the troop leader for two years during the Botswana National Scouts Camps with objectives of Environmental Conservation.
They both asked me if they could volunteer as Tent Leaders on my December Camps this year. They were wonderful tent leaders as they understood exactly how the children felt.
Thank you Tanya, and well done Thabiso and Mogomotsi!
