Read Bongani Baloyi’s short report on his recent camp with our children from Makuleke (South Africa) at Pafuri Trails Camp.
This is the first camp we have held in Pafuri after a two-year absence. It was very exciting to see Children in the Wilderness (CITW) collaborating again with Return Africa. The camp took place from 26 to 28 June 2019 at Pafuri Walking Trails Camp where 8 children (4 boys and 4 girls – two from each school) from Makuleke Primary Schools participated. Bongani Baloyi was joined by Virginia Hatlane, Leinah Chauke (both teachers from Makuleke schools), CITW Makuleke Programme Liaison, Rhulani Ngwenyama and seven staff members from Return Africa’s Pafuri Camp.
Return Africa donated their staff’s time, fuel and two game viewer vehicles and guides as well as discounted camp accommodation and meals in addition to setting up the camp for us. SANParks also offered to waive their daily conservation fees for all the camp participants in addition to hosting the campers and their teachers at Punda Maria Environmental Education centre.
Here are a few sneak peek photos from Camp – we look forward to sharing Bongani’s full report with you soon!
