Aline Umutoni, Wilderness Safaris Community and Nature Guide at Bisate Lodge, Rwanda, won the Unsung Hero Award at the PURE travel show in Marrakesh. Aline is very involved in the Children in the Wilderness Programme at Bisate Primary School. We are so proud of you, Aline!
An excerpt from the award nomination: Aline’s in-depth knowledge of Rwanda’s Bisate area and Volcanoes National Park is endless! Her positive energy, enthusiasm and motivation, and deep commitment to conservation and community empowerment are inspirational. Her goal is to improve the lives of all community members living around Bisate. During her ‘down’ time, her commitment to conservation, the community or Bisate Primary School doesn’t stop. A few examples: Joining Eco-Club lessons; planting indigenous trees; driving a solar light project and blanket donation; and organising funds for school internet access and for eight scholarships.
