The first Children in the Wilderness cycle ride took place in January 2004. Twenty three cyclists rode 640kms from Johannesburg to Durban over four days to raise funds for the Children in the Wilderness programme and close on R500,000 was raised for the charity.

The event was a huge success; there were lots of sore muscles (and bums) – but everyone had a great experience. The success of that ride has led us to make this an annual event, albeit with new partners in the Peace Parks and a new route through the new Great Limpopo Transfrontier National Park.
